The Rocks by Peter Nichols
Peter Nichols, an American by birth, moved to England with his family when he was 9. They would go abroad every summer and went to Mallorca where they bought a house. He went there every summer starting in the early ‘60s. Of course it wasn’t that touristy then but it was a place that had a really profound and indelible effect on Peter and his development. As Peter has said: “The stone walls and the light and the olive trees and the rocks – all of it.”
About: “Set against dramatic Mediterranean Sea views and lush olive groves, The Rocks opens with a confrontation and a secret: What was the mysterious, catastrophic event that drove two honeymooners apart so suddenly and absolutely in 1948 that they never spoke again despite living on the same island for sixty more years?”
