Palma’s Prime Palacios
Walking back to my car yesterday evening in Palma, after a reception to celebrate the publication of Anna Nicholas’s new book ‘The Devil’s Horn’ at the immaculate Sant Francesc Hotel Singular, I was struck by the amount of work still being undertaken on many of the Old Town’s grand buildings.

Despite the number of new hotel openings in this area in the last demi-decade there are a many renovations currently in progress, including complete Palacio’s apparently intended as single homes in some cases.
According to new research by the international real estate advisor Savills, these five cities in Spain, Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Málaga & Palma are “giving potential buyers a new sense of confidence, alongside a high-quality lifestyle.”
They say: ‘The Balearic Islands have bucked the trend somewhat with price growth of 37% over the past five years, behind only Madrid and Catalonia in terms of growth. Mallorca is the tourism powerhouse of the islands, with a well-developed infrastructure supporting visitors year round.”
On returning home a little research showed a Palma Palacio for sale right now for around 13,500,000 €. So in case you don’t want to wait for those pesky renovations to be completed and could cope with 8 bedrooms, 9 bathrooms, a spa with heated pool, a Turkish hammam bath and of course a lift!, head over here to take a peek!
