Fabiola Gastronomic Garden: A New Dining Concept in Palma de Mallorca

The new Fabiola Gastronomic Garden is set in the heart of the old quarter of Palma de Mallorca on one of the city’s oldest streets.

Restaurant Review: A New Concept with Fabiola Gastronomic Garden.

They say: “Fabiola Gastronomic Garden is a new concept of social gastronomy and quality entertainment.”

We recently tried this new dining concept with it’s ‘wild garden’ décor of lush greenery, exotic birds and numerous pineapples, accompanied by a bespoke music playlist created by a renowned music producer.

Fabiola Gastronomic Garden’s fresh new menu is all about sharing and perhaps a more casual approach to dining, albeit still in elegant surroundings with it’s wild garden theme. Plates are meant to be shared, socialising is to be enjoyed and bespoke cocktails tasted, all accompanied by original music.

The menu is comprehensive and it really is difficult to choose from the selection of twenty nine dishes of which six are deserts. As we were only a party of two this made it even more difficult!

The wine list offers a good selection of twelve white wines (from 22 – 60 Euro) and fourteen red wines (from 24 – 165 Euro), plus three rosés and of course a selection of the usual suspects, cavas, champagnes and sweet wines.

The waiter recommended selecting four or five dishes and we started our ‘sharing’ with some absolutely great “Roasted Meat Croquettes” (6 Euro), a beef, pork and chicken combination, followed by the “Freshly made” Russian salad with lobster (13,50 Euro) which we felt just needed a bit more punch.

The locally caught and delicious “Spanish garlic Sóller shrimps” (14,50 Euro) were next to arrive at our sharing session. Next up was the “Lobster roll on brioche bread” (15,50 Euro). There was definitely a case of ‘get stuck in’ with this dish, as you really need to use your hands to enjoy it thorougly.

Lastly, and what was to be our favourite dish of the evening, the “Suckling pig Peking Style” (18,50 Euro), a great take on the classic Chinese shredded duck and plum sauce, served on a platter and featuring flatbreads, two salads and two dipping sauces, the first Mango Chutney and the second Soya and Chive.

There are four tempting vegetarian options to cater to all taste buds.

On the dessert front, we chose the delicious “Pear and Cinnamon Tart” and the “Tiramisu with cappuccino ice cream” (7 Euro’s each), both were good, but the lady on the next table had ordered the “Sponge Cake Origin” which looked amazing, and according to her, tasted even better!

There is some great music playing as well, specially created by the renowned music producer Sebas Ramís with a unique playlist featuring soul, jazz and funk sounds with Latin touches.

Verdict

We were especially glad to see Executive Chef Juan Melis come to the fore at Fabiola Gastronomic Garden with his latest culinary inspirations. His dishes are presented in a contemporary style whilst staying true to traditional flavours. This is a lovely spot for lunch or dinner where you can enjoy the lush, cool surroundings whilst sharing great food made with only top quality ingredients..
