ART, DECORATION & DESIGN

Founded in 1450, Castell Son Claret was lovingly restored and reopened as a luxury hotel just six years ago. With the 19th century main house at its heart and seven historic buildings nearby, the traditional has blended seamlessly with the contemporary with the use of warm tones and wood-beamed ceilings to create an extremely harmonious interior throughout.

International and local art abounds as can be seen by more than 30 works by living artists such as Mallorcan painter Ramón Canet and the Mallorcan sculptor Águeda Gaya as well as original lithographs of Joan Miró.

ROOMS & SUITES

The main castle building is home to 15 guest rooms and suites. A further 26 rooms and suites are located close to the main building in a series of annexes some of which are located in the former stables and one in what was a water tower.

There are 5 different categories of suites. The two 70 sq.m. Tower suites offer extensive views over the gardens and estate. They feature large balconies, living rooms with dining tables for four people, sofa beds, master bedrooms and bathrooms.

All the rooms and suites are different in size and layout, extremely comfortable and decorated in warm caramel tones. Some offer a terrace or small garden. This chic and cozy environment is enhanced with fabulous large beds, mattress toppers, marble bathtubs and showers, great lighting, coffee machines and Ren bath products. And don’t forget to check out that awesome pillow menu too!

ZARANDA RESTAURANT, OLIVERA RESTAURANT & CASTELL BAR

It doesn’t get much better than this, two outstanding restaurants. Zaranda a magical two Michelin-starred restaurant and Olivera, an a la carte restaurant where guests can dine on a tranquil terrace overlooking the pool and valley beyond.

Zaranda Restaurant

“A daring, thrilling and innovative Michelin Star gourmet experience”

The Michelin-starred Zaranda was relocated from Madrid by Chef Fernando Perez Arellano who received his first Michelin star at just twenty seven years of age.

Today, Zaranda is the only two Michelin-starred restaurant in the Balearics and it is where Fernando immerses himself in the gastronomic richness of the Balearic Islands. It is here that he offers a daring, thrilling and innovative Michelin star gourmet experience inspired by his experiences, travels, surroundings and roots.

Fernando’s three tasting menus, Memorable featuring 6 courses, Essentials featuring 8 courses and Souvenirs featuring 11 courses are priced from €140 to €185.

These stunning culinary experiences are ensured using herbs and spices from the gardens to create unforgettable combinations of taste and texture such as Caviar, horseradish and pickled pearls, Paprika spiced octopus with potato veloute and Pidgeon “Berber” in a prune tagine, “Pastela” and Moroccan tea.

Room Director Itziar Rodríguez and her staff guide you on a faultless journey through the courses whilst Sommelier Sebastián Longo ensures your accompanying wines are carefully selected and paired.

Olivera Restaurant

“Honest food, fresh flavours, honouring local culinary traditions”

Olivera is a great place to start the day with an al fresco breakfast from the lovely buffet. It’s all here, fresh fruit, local cheeses, Iberico hams, freshly baked organic breads, rolls and pastries plus home made jams. There’s also a menu offering cooked breakfasts.

Special mention must go to the artisan bakers, Juan and Jose of the in-house bakery who bake the wholesome organic breads, pastries and ensaïmadas that feature at the breakfast buffet and other meals.

Do try: ‘Pan de Frutes Secos’, the dried fruits bread at breakfast – it’s wonderful!

Olivera is also a lovely place to enjoy a long leisurely lunch or candlelit dinner. Mallorcan Chef Pep Forteza, presents a Spanish-Mediterranean menu combining fresh produce from the gardens, surrounding countryside and the sea beyond.

Dishes include the delicious Avocado and mango “Ceviche” with prawns, basil and coriander, Sea bass with raisins, pine nuts and sautéed picornell and “came grogue” mushrooms and Guinea fowl with creamy Mallorcan cheese, sautéed mushrooms and red wine sauce.

Nearby in the former chapel sits the Castell bar where the barman and master cocktail maker Roberto is on hand to create his cocktail masterpieces like the wonderfully photogenic “Aires de Tramuntana” cocktail of Palo, fresh lemon juice, fresh mint, homemade sirup of Castell Son Claret’s flowers and ginger beer.
