PRIME LOCATION

Sa Creu Nova Art Hotel & Spa is located in the rural town of Campos. The surrounding area is known for it’s agricultural heritage and in fact in times gone by the fishermen were the only ones to go to the coast and the sea as it was thought to be too dangerous! It is an ideal base for exploring the south east of the island.

Close by is the Es Trenc-Salobrar Natural Park, one of the best conserved areas on the island. Known for its stunning landscape and environmental value it includes two of the island’s best beaches: Es Trenc and Ses Covetes. The city of Palma is only thirty minutes away by car and here you will find many of the city’s historic landmarks, the Arab Baths, the wonderful Gothic, Le Seu Cathedral, and the Royal Palace of La Almudaina.

Tip: If you only have a couple of days, the location is ideal for maximising your time in the area. Don’t miss the beaches to be found at nearby Sa Rapita and S’Estanyol. Along the road which connects the two yacht clubs of the same name are a selection of eateries offering a relaxed, beachy vibe. Here you will find some great fish and seafood restaurants, as well as places for some excellent tapas.

ART, DECORATION & DESIGN

The name “Sa Creu Nova” is the Mallorquin for “The New Cross”. Opened in 2017, this was a passionate project undertaken by the Catalan couple Teresa Artés de Arcos and her creative husband Enrique Picó. They acquired three adjacent town houses in the tree lined Carrer Nou and created this new addition to Mallorca’s 5 star Hotel club.

The building itself originates from the 18th century and the hotel has embraced this heritage and taken it to a new level. Guests have the opportunity to be completely detached from modern life and it’s fast pace in an artistic atmosphere, surrounded by designer luxury.

Art is not only included in the name of the hotel but is at the forefront of the interior design. Enrique’s flair for this can be seen all around the hotel, from the exterior decoration to the interior fixtures and fittings. The buildings have been completely renovated and transformed into a chic, contemporary retreat in one of the oldest parts of the town.

Throughout the hotel’s rooms and common areas, this artistic theme is always evident. The large painting adjacent to the lobby is by the Italian artist Luca Monzani, now a resident of Mallorca, whose paintings also appear in many of the Suites. Another artist, Maria Yelletisch from Barcelona, features prominently.

The Tess de Mar restaurant features two works of note, the human body sculpture by Fernando Suárez depicting a man forced to his limits at the entrance, and the sculpture of fishes by Enrique Picó himself that resides inside.

The interior decoration throughout combines natural stone walls, stripped wooden floors and contemporary furnishings complimented by more sculptures and paintings.

Tip: Visit the parish church of Sant Julia, just a short walk away and see the painting of Christ by the renowned Sevilian artist Murillo.

SUITES

The sixteen Junior Suites are spacious, airy and feature contemporary décor and artwork, soft fabrics, stylish fixtures and fittings, air-conditioning, 49 inch TV’s, and fast, free Wi-Fi. There are five Superior, six DeLuxe and five Premium Suites. These are all unique, some with a balcony or terrace others with a garden.

All the Suites have large double beds, a pillow menu including hypoallergenic, safe, seating, minibar, telephone, radio, Nespresso coffee machine and capsules, kettle with a selection of teas.

The lovely bathrooms are fitted with with rainfall showers or bathtubs. All have individual bathrobes and slippers, professional hair dryers and Chopard guest accessories. Pool towels and beach towels are also to hand.

Sa Creu Nova Collage Suites

The hotel’s Presidential Suite is a fabulous duplex of some 110 square metres with a gallery sleeping area, en suite and dressing room. On the ground floor there is a living room with fireplace, a fully equipped kitchen with a dining area for eight and an internal patio. Breakfast service and a private chef are available if required. The Suite is located across the courtyard from the hotel in a separate building with private access and garden views.

24hr room service and turn-down & tidy-up service each evening too!

Tip: Spoil yourself or significant other! Choose the fully equipped Presidential Suite with it’s private chef, VIP amenities and 2 private terraces! or go for a Premium Room. 104 (with great corner bath but no terrace) or 105 (with terrace but shower only) which are our top picks!

RESTAURANTS & COCKTAIL BAR

Now this is unusual for a small boutique hotel. Not one, but two restaurants, one of which is unique to the island of Mallorca!

The extremely good à la carte breakfast is served in the Tess de Mar restaurant, either inside or in the adjacent outdoor courtyard area where breakfast is a must on sunny morning.

Tip: Taste the homemade muesli with fruit and local, natural yogurt and/or the homemade pancakes with syrup, red fruits and chocolate sauce!

At lunch and dinner, this restaurant serves Mediterranean signature and avant-garde cuisine created by head chef, Juan Ocampo, and his team.

He uses only the best quality ingredients and is very keen on ‘0km’ produce in the cooking process at Tess de Mar.

Tip: Taste the “Egg Tess de Mar’, a juicy mushroom ragout topped with a candied organic egg yolk, a potato foam and bread crumbs with local sobrasada! and/or the Pistachio crusted lamb with glazed potato thyme gnocchi and Mallorcan cheese!

The other restaurant is the Japanese restaurant, Kairiku, which offers the concept of “Omakase”, a meal consisting of dishes selected by the chef. This is a truly unique Japanese dining experience in Mallorca.

Sa Creu Nova Collage Kairiku

César León, the chef, visits the local market everyday to collect his fresh produce in order to offer those dining a truly incredible gastronomic experience. Guests are invited to share a table, enjoy and connect whilst sampling an exceptional tasting menu consisting of refined Japanese cuisine with very personal touches by Chef León in an intimate setting. The dishes are paired with teas, sakes and Japanese cocktails. Pre-booking at Kairiku is essential.

The cosy Cocktail Bar is a great place to enjoy one of the hotel’s signature cocktails or a drink from the comprehensive drinks menu especially outside on the terrace. A great place for that first aperitif!

Tip: Visit the salt pans at nearby Ses Salines, prized by the invading Romans, and taste the gourmet flavoured salt produced here.

SWIMMING POOL, SPA & FITNESS AREA

The 24 square metre salt water pool is beautifully situated at one end of the property. At the other end you will find the well equipped SPA, for once not in the basement of a hotel, with sauna, hammam, sensations shower, lumbar jets, relaxing whirlpool loungers and thermal beds.

Treatments and therapies are available in the treatment area where the professional team offer a great variety of services based around wellbeing and relaxation. There is also a small fitness area across the courtyard with Life Fitness machines and views of the garden.

Sa Creu Nova Collage Spa & Gym

If you are looking for a ‘quiet oasis of peace’ in Mallorca with great attention to detail then Sa Creu Nova Art Hotel & Spa is a superb choice.

Teresa de Artes and her team are absolutely excellent hosts and extremely helpful.

We therefore have no doubts in recommending this lovely small but charming hotel, just remember this is a small country town.
