TOMEU Restaurant Hits The Heights

TOMEU Restaurant Hits the Heights

It is easy to dismiss yet another restaurant opening in the centre of Palma de Mallorca as simply more of the same, but occasionally one comes along that gives diners something fresh and new.

The TOMEU restaurant at the new Boutique Hotel Sant Jaume is named after the Michelin starred chef Tomeu Caldentey and brings the classic cuisine of Mallorca to this new hotel in the center of the city.

The aim of the team at TOMEU, led by Chef Joan Melis and Restaurant Manager Albert Escofet, is to value Mallorcan gastronomy and deliver an unrivalled level of refinement and service. These three elements all have equal importance.

New classics already abound including the Egg ‘Port de Sóller’, with prawn and a classic maltese sauce, the Langoustine flamed with Majorcan herb liquer and the “Sorbet of ‘ginet’ from Menorca which is churned in a small wooden barrel at the table with a touch of nitrogen added to speed up the process.

Open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner, the restaurant offers a 3 course menu as well as two tasting menus, the Menu Santa Magda has a price of € 55 and the Menu Sant Jaume € 80.

A wide selection of artisan cheeses plus a comprehensive wine list featuring Balearic wines from Binissalem, Pla i Llevant, la Serra de Tramuntana and Menorca as well as artisan beers from Formentera and Ibiza complete the offering in this pineapple and palm tree themed oasis of peace.

This restaurant is now closed and has been replaced by Fabiola Gastronomic Garden as of late September 2018.
