One Restaurant in Mallorca makes the Top 10 Best Restaurants in Rural Spain
Guardian readers have discovered fantastic places to eat from the mountains of northern Spain to the beaches of Andalucía and across to the Balearics.
Their selection of the 10 of the best restaurants in rural Spain includes the Restaurant Montimar in Estellencs on the north west coast of Mallorca.
The municipality of Estellencs is one of the smallest municipalities on the island of Mallorca. The laid back village of Estellencs has been able to conserve it’s tradition and heritage and remain far away from mass tourism. Close by is the tranquil little cove of Cala Estellencs where the water is clean and crystal clear. This quiet corner of the Serra de Tramuntana is a must-visit where the authentic Mallorca is showcased in a delightful setting.
They said: “Stop for lunch at Montimar. Sit outside on the terrace and eat bread covered in olive oil and tomato, robust soup with cabbage, bread and garlic, frito (diced lambs liver with potatoes, onions, peppers and garlic) or the tumbet (layers of potatoes, aubergines, peppers and garlic) and have an extra glass of the Binissalem wine.”
Other rural restaurants featured were Arxiduna, Archidona and Tetería Baraka, La Alpujarra in Andalucía, Casa Juanín, Pendones in Asturias, Monestir de Sant Pere de Casseres and Toc Al Mar, Begur in Catalonia, Algo Así, Cañamero in Extremadura, Domus Real Fuerte de la Concepción, Aldea del Obispo in Salamanca, El Rinconcito de Hilario, Las Zocas in Tenerife.
