Mallorca: Awards Galore!!

The award season is in full swing and Mallorca’s Heritage, Hotels, B&Bs and the island itself have been rewarded with a total of 18 new awards.

One of the latest is The European Union Prize for Cultural Heritage / Europa Nostra Awards, which highlight some of Europe’s best achievements in heritage care, and showcase remarkable efforts made in raising awareness about our cultural heritage.

This year the Cap Enderrocat Fortress, now the beautiful Cap Rocat Hotel won an award for conservation. The jury said of the project which aimed to save an old military fortress from ruin: “This imaginative reuse of a military building is an effective way of revitalising a challenging site which is completely respectful of the surrounding landscape”.

Established in June 2006, Connoisseur Circle, is a Vienna-based company which provides the discriminating traveller with insider information and travel expertise in the luxury segment. In their Connoisseur Circle Hospitality Awards 2017Castell Son Claret in Es Capdellá, Calvía has been awarded the Best Hideaway Hotel.

The 2017 Trip Advisor Travellers’ Choice awards are chosen by Trip Advisor users from around the globe and determined by the quality and quantity of reviews and ratings for hotels all around Spain over the last 12 months.

In the Top 25 Hotels in Spain category, three Mallorcan hotels featured.

In 6th place, Gran Hotel Son Neta breathtaking historical mansion dating back to the 17th century, which has been lovingly restored into an elegant sanctuary, a mere twenty minutes from Palma. Recent reviews include: “I never want to leave”, “Magical Place” & “Absolutely breathtaking”.

In 15th place, Sant Francesc Boutique Hotel, located inside a converted 19th-century manor house in the heart of Palma has added yet another award to it’s trophy cabinet. Recent reviews include : “Magical Stay in Palma”, “Excellent location, professional and caring staff” & “Style!”.

Hotel Astoria Playa in the popular northern resort of Port d’Alcúdia was in 19th place. Recent reviews include: “Beyond Expectations!!”, “Stunning” & “Love this hotel”.

In the Small Hotels category, Mallorca reigns supreme with the 9th best Small Hotel in the World and the best Small Hotel in Spain. There are three more hotels in the Top 10 in Spain and eight overall in the Top 25! 

In 1st place, Hotel Salvia in Sóller, a restored 19th-century former Merchants House located in the old town of Sóller. Recent reviews include: “Magnificent”, “I wish I lived here!!!” & “More than just a hotel”.

In 6th place, Finca Hotel Son Palou is a romantic secluded hotel with beautifully landscaped grounds overlooking a valley of Orient. Recent reviews include: “Glorious Break” & “The perfect relief from the hustle and bustle of daily life!!”.

In 7th place, Petit Hotel Son Arnau perfectly positioned on the edge of the beautiful village of Selva at the foot of the Serra de Tramuntana. Recent reviews include: “Superlative”, “Beautiful Boutique Hotel” & “Absolute Tranquillity”.

In 10th place, Art Hotel Palma, located next to the vibrant and cosmopolitan Plaza Mayor in the heart of the city.
Recent reviews include: “Excellent” & “Wonderful Hospitality”.

In the B&Bs and Inns category, two of the top 25 in Spain are located in Mallorca.

In 9th place, Finca Son Jorboa rural B&B set in a restored 17th-century country house near Porreres. Recent reviews include: “Perfect Apartments & Delightful Owners”, “Hidden Oasis” & “Better than in my dream…”.

In 23rd place, Albellons Parc Natural Hotel, set in the middle of a protected nature reserve, ensuring a peaceful and idyllic backdrop to your stay. Recent reviews include: “Peace and tranquillity with wonderful service”, “Perfect Stay” & “Beautiful quiet haven in the hills”.

Lastly, Mallorca came 6th in the Top 10 Islands category, 13th in the Top 25 destinations in Europe and 2nd in the Top 25 destinations in Spain.

They say: ‘The dreamy island that provided inspiration to Chopin and Miró now has a reputation as a spring break beach destination. Don’t worry, though, if you’re vacationing over elementary school spring break– there’s plenty for the younger crowd. And if you have a Thomas-obsessed toddler, the antique train that travels between Palma and Soller is a must-see.”
